Oral Cancer Screening anf Maintaining Health

DON'T DELAY

Early detection of oral cancer is critical for survival. Most common oral cancers have no symptoms until they have grown and caused tremendous damage. If you notice a persistent mouth sore, a white or red patch anywhere in your mouth, loosening of teeth, or numbness of the tongue or anywhere else, you should be examined immediately. We encourage all patients to have an annual oral cancer screening regardless of age or perceived symptoms.

AN OUNCE OF PREVENTION

Save yourself time, money, and stress with the right preventive care regimen. Dr. Adam Bozeman encourages all patients to use an electric toothbrush and come in for a dental checkup and cleaning at least once every six months, or more frequently for patients at risk of gum disease or tooth decay. Many dental problems have no symptoms until they are advanced and you may not know that you are at risk until significant damage has occurred. Brushing with fluoridated toothpaste, managing systemic conditions, such as acid reflux, and preventing dry mouth help maintain an optimal oral environment.

OPTIMAL ORAL HEALTH

Making your oral health a priority can help you avoid cavities, gum disease, worn tooth enamel, and many other oral health issues. Cutting edge research is demonstrating links between poor dental health and a number of systemic conditions, such as heart disease and potentially even Alzheimer's disease. Children must be taught proper oral hygiene at an early age, and all patients need to maintain proper oral health for a lifetime.
